PEER REVIEW POLICY
SCIENTARA JOURNAL
Journal of Agricultural, Environmental and Life Sciences
Overview
Scientara Journal is committed to a fair, independent, confidential, constructive, and academically rigorous peer-review process. Peer review supports editorial decision-making, helps authors improve manuscripts, evaluates scholarly quality and relevance, and contributes to the reliability and integrity of the published scholarly record.
Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final editorial decision rests with the responsible journal editor.
Peer Review Scope
Manuscripts suitable for consideration may undergo editorial assessment and, where appropriate, external peer review. The extent and type of review may depend on the article type, subject area, methodological complexity, editorial assessment, and suitability for external review.
Different manuscript categories may be assessed in different ways depending on editorial judgment and the nature of the submission. The journal applies review procedures that are appropriate to the scholarly content of each manuscript.
Key Principles
Independence
Reviewers and editors should be free from conflicts or relationships that could compromise objective assessment of a manuscript.
Expertise
Manuscripts should be evaluated by individuals with relevant subject knowledge, methodological understanding, or both, as appropriate to the submission.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and unpublished information must be treated as confidential throughout the review process.
Fairness
Manuscripts should be assessed according to scholarly merit and relevant academic criteria without discrimination based on irrelevant personal, institutional, geographic, or professional characteristics.
Integrity
Potential concerns involving research or publication misconduct should be brought to the editorial office for appropriate assessment and action when needed.
Timeliness
Editors and reviewers should make reasonable efforts to complete their responsibilities within a reasonable period while maintaining the quality and thoroughness of the review.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Provide an objective, constructive, and respectful assessment of the manuscript.
- Evaluate the work for originality, methodological soundness, clarity, relevance, and contribution to the field.
- Disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest promptly to the editor.
- Maintain confidentiality and do not share or use manuscript content outside the review process.
- Report concerns about plagiarism, duplication, ethical issues, or data reliability where relevant.
- Support authors and editors through clear, evidence-based comments that improve the quality of the manuscript.
Editorial Responsibilities
Editorial assessment
Editors assess submitted manuscripts for scope, quality, completeness, and suitability for review or further consideration. Editorial judgment is based on scholarly merit and journal policy.
Reviewer selection
Where external review is appropriate, editors seek reviewers with relevant expertise and no apparent conflict of interest, using their editorial judgment to support a fair evaluation.
Decision-making
Editorial decisions are informed by reviewer comments, but the editor retains responsibility for the final outcome of the manuscript process.
Confidential handling
Editors must treat submissions and reviewer communications as confidential and ensure that unpublished material is handled appropriately within the editorial process.
Author Response and Revision
When revisions are requested, authors should respond carefully to reviewer and editor comments, indicating how concerns have been addressed or, where appropriate, why a suggested change was not adopted. A clear and respectful point-by-point response supports an efficient editorial process and helps improve the manuscript.
Authors may be asked to revise language, presentation, structure, citations, data explanation, or other aspects of the manuscript to improve clarity, accuracy, and scholarly quality.
Handling Ethical or Review Concerns
If concerns arise regarding plagiarism, fabricated or falsified content, duplicate submission, undisclosed conflicts, inappropriate reviewer conduct, or any other form of publication malpractice, the editorial office may investigate and take appropriate action in line with journal policy.
The journal may seek clarification from authors, reviewers, or editors where necessary to support an informed editorial outcome and to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
Policy Statement
Scientara Journal values a responsible peer-review process that is fair, confidential, constructive, and consistent with good scholarly publishing practice. The journal expects all participants in the review process to act with integrity and respect for the academic record.
